Q. DO YOU HAVE A DRESS CODE?
A. Yes. However, here is an easy explanation. We do not allow flip flop type footwear during busy events for safety reasons. We do not allow excessively dirty or ripped clothing. We will not allow clothing of any kind with hate speech. We want our guests to be comfortable and to have fun.Â
Q. IS THERE A FEE FOR A VIP TABLE?
A. No. but a Reservation is required so that we may properly accomodate you and your groups needs. VIP Tables do require a 4 person minimum and have a maximum of 6 per table. If you need more, book a 2nd VIP Table if available. Reservations are for 2 hours.
Q. WHY BOTTLE SERVICE?
A. Your group will save money buying a bottle over buying each drink individually. Bottle Service is something new and different that we offer.
Q. DO YOU HAVE FOOD?
A. Yes. We have an easy eats menu to quickly satisfy your appetite, but we are an event driven business open late with food being a compliment to the evening.
Q. ARE YOU A "HIGH END" ESTABLISHMENT?
A. Yes. We do believe that the Black Velvet Lounge stands apart from most local establishments in that our Vibe and Feel are meant to make you feel a different way when you walk in. We would say that we are more comparable to a speak easy. But, we are not High End with our prices. We just feel that it is completely acceptable to enjoy your favorite drink in a nicer setting. A clean, modern establishment to have fun, dance, gather with friends, or to enjoy one of our events such as a Murder Mystery or Bingo. We also carry and feature higher end Bourbons and Cocktails for those who have the desire to enjoy them. Everyone with Every Budget is Welcome!
Q. WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS MODEL?
A. An establishment with a Speak Easy/Lounge type feel that is focused on a guests experience. From an inside that makes you lose sense of time, VIP Level Service, Events to look forward to for something continually different, sporting events at a higher level, next level audio and visual, slots for your entertainment, and a completely different vibe than what is locally available.
Q. WILL THIS WORK IN ANTIOCH, ILLINOIS?
A. Yes. Antioch has many "Traditional" Bars. Bars that are patronized by generations of families that reside in our town. We are not seeking to enter that market, but to supplement it. Many would like a more "City" or "Upscale" type of feel when they are looking for nice evening out to have fun and do not want to drive to the City. We feel that we fill that void.
Q. DO THE OWNERS RESIDE IN ANTIOCH, IL?
A. Our owners Alex and Colleen Kaliakmanis have been Antioch residents for 25 Years with our 4 children being lifelong residents all having gone through Emmons and Antioch, HS school systems. When we decided to re-concept our business, we wanted to do something fun. A place where we would want to spend our free time and to socialize with friends, family, and guests. We put a year of thought behind it and we are continually evolving and growing. We are always looking to bring something new!
Q. WHY ARE YOUR WINDOWS BLACKED OUT?
A. Our VIP Areas are located where the windows are located. It was necessary to black them out for a couple of reasons. First, we installed state of the art OLED TV'S over where the windows are located in order to have them located within the VIP Areas. Second, in order for us to accomplish the feel that we wanted and to maximize the audio and visual experience throughout we could have no outside light. During DJ Events, we have laser lights and a mist machine. It has to be dark.
